If you’ve been following me on social media, you’ll know that I pledged to donate 10% of all preorder profits to an LGBTQ+ charity. I will be doing that at the end of the month, but I want to do even more.

First of all, no matter what happens with this auction, I am going to double the amount I donate by matching the 10%.

But I’d love to have a bigger number to give. Transphobia is something that’s growing every single day and the situation in the UK isn’t great right now.

But here’s some more information about what’s up for auction and how you can participate.

The items up for auction are:

Here are some terms and details:

For physical items, I will reimburse myself only for shipping. The rest (printing, production and packaging) will be given away and coming out of my own pocket. So all money excluding shipping cost goes to charity

For digital items and the commission, 100% of the money will go to charity. I will be paying for the commission out of my own pocket and all other rewards are being given away without any income for me.

For the art commission, I will be choosing the artist and I’m currently capping characters at 3. That being said, if the winner wishes for more characters, I will discuss with my artist to see what is possible. Just be aware it might not be possible to have more than 3 characters.

For the acknowledgements, anyone who bids will automatically be considered a winner. This is the perfect item for those who want to contribute but don’t want any of the items or can’t contribute a big sum. It does not include any anthologies or collaborative works I’m in. The acknowledgment will appear in my next full-length solo Ezra Wren novel.

Why you should donate:

Because trans lives matter, because we need to protect trans kids, because Oscar would and Aaron would and all of their friends would.

I will be making my donation whether or not this auction is successful. Even if nobody bids on anything, I will still be doubling my 10% and making my donation at the end of the month, but I would love to have a bigger sum. I am one person and I don’t have full-time income. My work consists of publishing my books and being a freelance editor and we live on just my partner’s wage. The truth is, if I could have quadrupled the amount myself, I would have done that. But I can’t. So, I’m asking whether you want to help me raise even more money for Mermaids UK.
